Rainbow Kids has been going strong here at the Springtown Church of Christ for over 30 years. The program is Bible oriented, along with fun and educational activities throughout the day and year. Activities are planned for your child that will stimulate their thought processes. They will encourage their self-awareness, their awareness of their environment, and their Heavenly Father who created them and all good things. Each RK teacher loves children and will provide an environment of love and security. We are a private school and are not regulated by the state of Texas.
On the first day of class, you may walk your child into their classroom. Please be cheerful, but firm and prompt in telling your child goodbye, even if there are tears. The longer you hesitate, the longer it takes your child to adjust. It is not unusual for the child to cry or to be hesitant the first few times. The drop off time is from 8:50-9 AM.
At drop off, please walk your child to the assigned door and a staff member will make sure they get to the correct class. The Rainbow Fish class will enter the door that is on the playground. All other classes will enter through the main RK door. Mornings run smoother and more quickly with this routine. It also makes the kids more independent by putting away their own backpacks and finding their own chair. Regular attendance is important. Please be on time, as learning activities start at 9 AM. It is also disruptive to have kids come in late, and the teacher may have to start over with an activity. We understand sometimes mornings do not go smoothly, or maybe you have an appointment before school they need to attend. You are always welcome to bring them late if that is the case, but please try to make a habit of being on time. During the year, please notify the director of any changes of address or phone numbers as they occur, so we can update your child’s paperwork.
Your child will be given a Calendar of Events in their packets at the beginning of the year. Please refer to this for any scheduled days off or early dismissal days. We follow the Springtown ISD calendar and are off the days they are scheduled off. We do have a few differences. If they are off on a Monday, we would be off Monday/Tuesday to make the days even for both Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday sessions. We also start after Labor Day in September instead of mid-August, and we release school a week earlier in May. In case of bad weather, listen to the local news for school closings. If Springtown is closed, so are we. If they have a late start time, we will start 15 min after they do, so our staff can get their children to school as well. We do not make up bad weather days, or any other unscheduled day. The rule of being closed the following day to make days even does not apply here. Example: if there is a snow day Monday, but not Tuesday, we will return Tuesday. If there is a circumstance, weather or otherwise while we are at school (like the electricity going out, or any other uncontrollable situation), the director will make the decision on whether early dismissal is needed on those days.
Our policy and practices are to make clear what we expect of preschoolers by repeating or explaining it often to them. Examples include: no pushing or hitting, no running inside the building, etc. We try to compliment and praise good behavior. Each child will have a sticker chart in their folder, where you can see how the day went. They will all start on a “green sticker day”. If your child does something above and beyond, they can move up to “Super Day” and earn two green stickers. If your child is disrupting class time or is not being respectful of the teachers and other students, they will be asked to stop this behavior. If the behavior continues, they will have their clip moved to yellow. If the behavior still continues, they will be moved to red for the day, and visit the director’s office for a time out. If your child does anything physical to another student or teacher (hitting, biting, etc..) their clip will be moved automatically to red and will visit the office. The teachers always try to send a note home for a red sticker. Once your child earns 5 green stickers, they get to choose a prize out of the prize box. This is a good motivator for them, and they look forward to earning those green stickers. Please send your child’s folder each day and empty the folder daily before each school day.
If your child becomes ill at school, we will make them as comfortable as possible and call you to come pick up your child. Please do not send a child to school that has had a temperature, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell, or trouble breathing during the past 24 hours. Your child must be symptom free WITHOUT the aid of medication for at least 24 hours. If your child shows symptoms of lice, please check for eggs/bugs. You will need to contact the director and make her aware of the situation. Your child will need to be checked in the office before they can return to the classroom. Please be respectful of others to avoid the spread of illnesses or lice. Medication that needs to be given at school, must be in the original container with your child’s name on it, and turned into the director. Do not leave medication of any kind in your child’s backpack. Please have your child up to date on all immunizations.
Tuition is $175 per month for one child. All months are the same regardless of how many school days are in each month. The total of the year’s tuition is divided by 9 to make the payments easier for parents. There is a $10 discount each month on your total tuition, if you have more than one child enrolled in the program. This is due on the first-class day of each month. You can pay by check, cash, or square payments. If paying by cash, you will need to put it in an envelope with your child’s name and amount written on the front. There is a tuition box in my office where you can drop off payments at any time. A $10 late fee will be applied to any account if not paid by the second Thursday of the month, unless you have spoken to the director and have made arrangements for your late payment. There is a $15 charge on all returned checks, as the bank will charge RK for any returned checks. The monthly tuition amount is required even if your child will miss days, or you drop out without notice. Even if your child attends one day in the month, the full amount will be due.
There is a supply fee of $100 for the year, which will be charged $50 per semester.
If you have not paid tuition by the last school day of the month, your child’s spot may be given to the next on the waiting list. All tuition must be paid before our End of the Year program for your child to receive their Me Book.
Your child will be put on a rotating list to provide snacks for their class. You will be given a calendar at the beginning of each month; all names will be posted there. Please send enough snacks for the whole class.
Each child will need to bring a backpack and lunch and drink. Food must consist of items that are easy and require little preparation by staff. Examples: sandwiches, chips, cheese, fruit, crackers, etc. Please make the items easy to open. We do not heat up any food for the children, as it would require too much time to do so. We ask that pizza and hotdog Lunchables are not sent as they require extra time to prepare. We also ask that the strait tubes of yogurt not be sent, but the ones with twist off lids are acceptable.
In addition to a drink in their lunch box, each child will need to send a water bottle filled with water daily. This can be a reusable non spill cup or bottle or a disposable one. Please label all lunch boxes and cups that need to be returned home.
Each child in the 3-year-old class will need a folding nap mat to lie on at rest time. The 4-yr old/PreK classes do not take a nap. A change of clothes will need to be sent daily in each child’s backpack in case of spills or accidents. Please label EVERYTHING of your child’s so that we will know who each item belongs to.
Play clothes are recommended. Preferably with an elastic waist that the child can easily manage in the bathroom. Overalls and one-piece items are harder to manage and take extra assistance. The teachers are responsible for taking more than one child to the restroom at a time, so please keep that in mind. Sturdy shoes are preferred. We try to go outside as the weather allows, and they are safer and more comfortable on the playground. Please do not send your child in flip-flops.
RK will at times post pictures of the children and activities on our Facebook page throughout the year. If you DO NOT give permission for your child’s picture to be posted online, you must give me a WRITTEN note by the first day of school.

Pick up time is from 2:15-2:30. You may enter the building when the doors open to retrieve your child from their classroom. If you need to pick up earlier, we ask that you do so before 1 PM, as we do not want to disrupt the younger classes’ nap time. If an emergency arises and you cannot make it, please make arrangements with someone to pick up your child, and text the director to let the school know ahead of time. Your child will be given 2 pick up cards in their packet. Anyone with one of these cards may pick up your child. Anyone showing up without the card will be asked to drop by the office and show their ID which will be matched on your child’s registration form under the people allowed to pick up your child. Please be considerate of the staff and make sure your child is picked up by 2:30.
